James Michael Mitts, 54, passed in his sleep on March 4, 2019. He was born on October
20, 1964 and was the youngest of six children born to Ernest W. Mitts, M.D. and Shirley
Helen (Mock) Mitts. He is preceded in death by his parents and by his nephew, Matthew
Ryan Nemechek. He is survived by his siblings Craig (Barbara) Mitts, Seminole, FL,
Pamela (Victor) Nemechek, Quinter, KS, Kathy (Randy) Sturgell, Highland, UT, Valerie
(Bill) Wilson, Lenexa, KS, and Helen Marie (Steve) Lysaught, Shawnee, KS, and by 16
nieces and nephews and 23 great-nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life he was cared for and loved by many angels on earth, including his
CLO family Jim and Sylvia Crockett, Lawrence, KS, and their four daughters Allie,
Erica, Marissa and Tori, to whom we are forever grateful.
Jimmy was beloved and cherished by his older siblings to whom he taught many lessons
of compassion and patience, and whom he entertained with his sense of humor and
amazing memory. Well done good and faithful servant.
Memorial services will be held at Alden-Harrington Funeral home in Bonner Springs,
KS. Monday, March 1 1. Visitation at 1O am and Memorial at 11 am. Private burial at a
later date in Bonner Springs Cemetery.
